Programming robots. Getting lines up and running.

Programming, commissioning and optimisation of industrial robots, from a single cell to a complete production line. Working worldwide since 2012, with a focus on the automotive industry.

Services

An optimal line is the result of precise planning and careful execution. I support you from virtual commissioning all the way to stable series production.

Programming and commissioning

Programming to your specifications and standards, e.g. the VW standard. If none exist yet, we develop suitable standards together. Support right up to start of production.

Virtual commissioning

Programs are tested in simulation before the line is built. This shortens on-site commissioning and reduces downtime.

Cycle time and process optimisation

In almost every robot cell, cycle time can be reduced by 10 % or more without compromising quality or process reliability, for example through optimised paths and interlock zones.

Troubleshooting

Finding faults and weak spots in programs, isolating the root cause and fixing it for good, together with your maintenance team.

Robotics project management

For five years I have been leading complete robotics projects: planning, schedules and teams of up to 20 programmers, from virtual commissioning to start of production.

Line operation and training

Support for your maintenance and production teams with experienced line operators, plus training for your staff to keep availability and output on target.

When to call me

Most enquiries don’t come in quiet phases, but when deadlines are tight or a line isn’t running the way it should.

Illustration: project schedule with timeline and team

Typical situations

  • New line with a fixed deadlineThe line has to run on time for start of production.
  • Cycle time falls shortThe line runs, but doesn’t reach the required output.
  • Intermittent faultsErrors occur irregularly and nobody can find the cause.
  • Large project without coordinationMany robots, many programmers and no clear plan.
  • Not enough in-house capacityYour team lacks time or specialist know-how.

What I bring

  • Structured analysisRoot cause, not symptoms: faults are isolated and fixed for good.
  • Large-project experienceLines with up to 300 robots, from simulation to SOP.
  • Leadership and coordinationTeams of up to 20 programmers, clear schedules and responsibilities.
  • Working to your standardPrograms and interlocks to customer specifications, e.g. the VW standard.
  • Three languagesWorking with international teams in German, English and Spanish.

Manufacturers

Real project experience with four robot manufacturers, from commissioning and optimisation to large-scale projects.

FANUC

My main focus

Programming, commissioning, process optimisation and troubleshooting. Coordination of lines with up to 300 iB and iB+ generation robots. Welding, gluing and handling to the VW standard.

KUKA

KRC4 handling and welding robots, cycle time optimisation, camera systems and laser cutting. Team lead for the integration of around 200 KUKA robots.

ABB

Complete production lines from commissioning to start of production, gluing applications, wax preservation and virtual commissioning.

Yaskawa Motoman

Handling programs, laser cutting and systems with an external travel axis serving multiple stations.

Applications

From projects in body-in-white, the supplier industry and special-purpose machinery.

Your goals become my challenges

Since 2021, Selbst Automatisierung has been providing robot programming and automation solutions: young, flexible and reliable. My main focus is the automotive industry, but I also support projects in many other sectors.

I work with robots from FANUC, KUKA, ABB and Yaskawa Motoman. My deepest expertise is with FANUC: programming, commissioning, process optimisation and troubleshooting. For the past five years I have worked continuously in project management, leading complete robotics projects with teams of up to 20 programmers and lines with several hundred robots.

My standard: 100 % quality, short production times and a project you can rely on. I work in German, English and Spanish.

How a project works

Clear agreements, short lines of communication and a line that runs at the end.

  1. Enquiry

You describe the line, controller and timeframe.

  2. Alignment

We agree on scope, schedule and contacts.

  3. On site

Programming, commissioning or optimisation directly at the line.

  4. Handover

Acceptance, documentation and support until stable series production.
